JAPAN ROOM

THE JAPAN ROOM

This room, which takes its name from the Japan Series, is furnished with a pale purple and burgundy coloured two-seater Japan sofa and a small Nyhavn Table with two 109 chairs.

The Japan Room is a bright room with high ceilings and a skylight. Kept in a minimalistic style, the Japan series comes to its own in the Hakuba atmosphere. The room also features a large Finn Juhl Japan sketch on the wall - something extraordinary for the design devotee.

The room is furnished with a queen size bed with a customised headboard, luggage bench and wardrobe.

All hotel bathrooms are light and fully renovated with wooden floors.

THE ROOM'S SIGNATURE FURNITURE - THE JAPAN SOFA

The sublime simplicity of this series is a far cry from his earlier furniture designs and is inspired by traditional Japanese building techniques. The solid horizontal backrest, resting on the slightly tapered legs, is a reference to a Japanese temple door. The backrest ends in a circular recess, adding an optically refined impression with great effect. That was very typical of Finn Juhl, who famously said that deviation is in the detail.

Even with this simple construction, Finn Juhl is true to his idea of emphasizing the difference between the carried and the carrying elements by separating the backrest from the bearing frame with brackets in brass.

The Japan Series is produced in teak, oak or walnut with hand sewn upholstery in fabric.

THE HAKUBA HOTEL

The small town of Hakuba, located in a valley surrounded by the Japanese alps, houses a lodge, that has now been transformed into a beautiful Danish/ Japanese design hotel.

Everywhere the hotel exudes a sense of downplayed elegance - from the soft bedlinen and organic toiletries to the cosy lighting.
